Exchange auto-archive to IMAP

Yes, you read the subject line correctly. Here is our issue, we have a need to archive mailboxes just like everyone else. While going to PST files has been ok, I've come up with a great solution that I'm not sure anyone else has tried. What I want to do is use the auto-archive functionality but have it push all of those archive messages to a IMAP server instead of a PST file.

Hers's the rationale... we can easily/cheaply build a very large IMAP server running Linux with some MSA's and such. This could scale to the multi-tera range without much effort, and since we could store everyone's "mailbox" in individual files, backup/restores would be very simple.

Has anyone heard of software to automate this? If not, any ideas on how best to implement? I've looked at Outlook's auto-archive feature and can't find anything that allows me to send the mail to somewhere else.

Thanks,
Eric
