Windows Live Mail and links embedded within an e-mail or a webpage

I need help to configure the mail default client. I am using Windows Live Mail (I understand Microsoft Outlook is not an option) and when I click on a link embedded within an e-mail or a webpage I get an error about the default mail servce and my computer goes crazy. I have to force a shutdown and restart.
