Anyone know how to stop this?

Re: XP calls home

You SHOULD be able to turn this off by disabling "AutoUpdate" in the control panel, then disable the "AutoUpdate" service through "Services".

You may also need to disable the "Background Intelligent Transfer service".

The Background Intelligent Transfer service is used by programs (such as Windows AutoUpdate) to download files by using spare bandwidth.

Re: XP calls home

Turned off AutoUpdates but the XP box still calls home. I haven't found "Services" yet. Can you give me a clue about how to get there :)

Re: XP calls home

Should be under Control panel, Administrative Tools, Services.

Then selecting AutoUpdate (either double-click, or right-click and select properties) then stop the service and select Startup type "disabled".
