can't send and receive mails using exchange 2003 server.
Any idea about the following error(logs).
Message delivery to the host 'xx.xx.56.70' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'company.com' for the following reason: Unable to successfully connect to the remote server.
The POP3 server (mailbox
I could not determine what the exact problem is. Help please!
Thanks in advance.

Re: can't send and receive mails using exchange 2003 server.
1. Unsure of that particular failure except for maybe the host xx.xx.56.70 can not properly resolve the name of the domain's mail server. Check your DNS on the mail server.
2. Sounds like the client attaching to the mail server via POP3 is configured to use Secure Passwords. Which client are you using?
In Outlook.. see the attached image..
On the Servers tab in the Mail Account Properties page, make sure SPA is turned off. If you need SPA to work, then you need to configure your E2k3 server to accept SPA connections by enabling "Requires SSL/TLS encryption" in Authentication on the Access Tab of the POP3 Properties sheet..

Re: can't send and receive mails using exchange 2003 server.
To check if your server can find company.com's mail server do:
nslookup
set type=mx
company.com
It will tell you on the first line or two what the preferred server is and a little later give its IP address (a.b.c.d). If it times out you have a DNS problem or the company.com does not have a mail server running or their DNS entry is hosed.
exit to get out of nslookup then
telnet a.b.c.d 25
and see if you get a response back.
