windows xp pro internet explorer

I have been getting an error message that windows explorer has to close everytime I have been online for after 1 hour or so when after I try to type in a web address or even when I try to type from the start menu Run.I have been told to clear the history in internet options and to clear the password and to uncheck the the view inline.I have done that but still the same please help
