Information Governance: 5,000 Reasons to Visit HP Autonomy at ACC

JohnPepe on ‎10-24-2013 05:00 AM

The HP Autonomy eDiscovery team is busy preparing for the upcoming Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Annual Meeting next week. For those not familiar with the organization and the event, the ACC is a 25,000 member global organization serving the professional needs of in-house counsel (more than 100 law firms and legal service providers). This years’ ACC Annual Meeting in Los Angeles will be the world’s largest gathering of in-house counsel where attendees can enhance their corporate legal education by learning from leaders in the profession, fulfilling CLE/CPD requirements, and meeting with thousands of their peers and legal service providers.

ACC is also a great place to learn all the legal issues facing in-house counsel. HP Autonomy will be front-and-center at ACC by participating in many of the more than 30 hours of networking events. HP Autonomy’s legal industry thought leaders will be sponsoring sessions centering around our 2013 theme of ‘taking control of eDiscovery’ by embracing a broader and proactive information governance strategy encompassing enterprise information indexing and archiving under a unified platform consisting of  Legal Hold , Early Case Assessment, analytics, and review & production

HP Autonomy Thought Leadership Events:

Social Media in the Workplace: Trade Secret Issues and Legal Ethics

9:00 – 10:30, Monday, Oct. 28
Track: Technology

Presented by the ACC Litigation Committee and the ACC Employment & Labor Committee

Social media is a “hot topic.” It seems that everyone has an opinion on how to navigate this dynamic intersection of law and technology — including our regulators. It’s one thing to mitigate the risks, but it’s another to do so without alienating your workforce ... or your CEO. These advances in technology heighten threats to employers'' trade secrets, and other confidential and proprietary information. Coping with these realities is not made easier by laws that have not kept up with how people use technology in their private and working lives. In addition, emerging ethical traps, including enhanced employee privacy protections, ensnare employers and their attorneys as they attempt to deal with technology and employment-related issues. We’ll break through the noise and tell you what you really need to know as corporate counsel to keep your company compliant without getting in the way of business.

Managing the Processes and Risks of Cross-Border Discovery

2:30 – 4:00pm, Monday, Oct. 29

Cross-border compliance obligations for multi-nationals means a lot more headaches for in-house litigators tasked with managing cross-border discovery. Discovery obligations vary from country to country – but try telling that to your home regulator who is clamoring for you to turn over documents that another regulator forbids you to. Explore the growing international complexity of discovery / eDiscovery compliance with a lively panel discussion that looks at recent regulatory actions, litigations and sanctions, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the UK Code of Business Conduct and the Eighth Amendment to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China.

Charity Fundraiser at Booth #709

HP Autonomy is known for innovation and market leadership. It is in that spirit that we decided to allocate this years’ conference resources, normally intended promotional ‘swag’, for a worthwhile cause near and dear to our fellow corporate counsel. So if you are planning to attend ACC, please be sure to stop by the HP Autonomy booth (# 709) and help us support local legal philanthropy. Register at the HP Autonomy booth and we’ll donate $5 in your name to the California Bar Foundation up to a total of $5,000.

Please help us reach our goal!
