Information Governance: ILTA 2013-- What we’ve learned so far

JoeGarber ‎08-21-2013 09:35 AM - edited ‎08-26-2013 10:16 AM

Tuesday August 20, was another busy and eventful day at ILTA 2013 in Las Vegas. ILTA is a four-day annual conference that attracts 1,600 attendees (representing law firms and corporate legal departments) who are interested in learning more about key trends in legal technology. The four days include 200 educational sessions and the event provides opportunities for attendees to interact with more than 200 vendors who are showcasing their top technology for this market.

For HP Autonomy, the last couple of days have been very successful with a good deal of booth traffic, customer interaction and full sessions led by company executives. One of these executive sessions was the “Linksite for Worksite” session featuring Shawn Misquitta, Director of Technology for HP Autonomy.

Autonomy LinkSite allows organizations to securely share and collaborate with colleagues, customers and business partners on files in the cloud while maintaining control of content within Autonomy WorkSite. LinkSite is another example of how HP and Autonomy are combining forces to deliver even greater value to our customers. This solution integrates our document and email management system (Autonomy WorkSite) with HP’s cloud-based file-sharing and collaboration service (HP Flow CM)—further reinforcing the synergies that are now being realized between the once-distinct organizations.

There was a great deal of excitement about Autonomy LinkSite, which was released this week at ILTA, because it addresses a key customer need for simple, enterprise-grade file sharing and collaboration.  Many are calling Autonomy LinkSite the industry’s first real alternative to consumer file sharing services like The comparison is being made because it delivers similar functionality and a comparable user experience with all the governance and scalability capabilities that are required by large organizations.

So what have we learned so far at ILTA 2013?

  • First, I’ve learned that this market (one that I’ve served for many years now), which has traditionally taken a “wait and see” stance on new technology can be immediately receptive to cutting-edge technology if it’s well thought out and aligned with unmet market needs.

  • Second, it’s clear that synergies between HP Autonomy and the broader HP organization are real and significant.  It is a high priority for us to leverage Pan-HP resources across every line of Autonomy’s business in order to bring to market even-greater value.  The Autonomy LinkSite announcement is one of many of such examples in the works.

  • And finally, our work is never done.  There are many other companies at this event with exciting things to share.  If we wish to remain a market leader, we need to continue innovating – something I am confident we will do given our strong technology portfolio and tradition of technology excellence.

The remainder of the event brings another day and more to learn.  With a great deal of energy at this year’s event, I look forward to another day of great feedback, customer interactions and informative speaking sessions.
