SESSIONS

From the Labs: Analog AI accelerators for an exponential world (T8458)

Speakers: Sai Chalamalasetti, Eun Sub Lee

Date and time: Tuesday, June 18, 2019 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Abstract: We’re on the horns of a dilemma. AI model complexity is growing exponentially, but Moore’s Law is in trouble and the world’s energy supply is stagnating. Hewlett Packard Labs is solving the problem using novel accelerators, harnessing the power of the analog world to perform trillions of calculations per second using just a few watts. In this session, Hewlett Packard Labs researchers will show off the entire solution stack, running real-world neural net workloads on fully functional FPGA-based prototype hardware.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise driving innovative solutions with Gen-Z and CXL (T8460)

Speakers: Mike Woodacre, Barry McAuliffe

Date and time: Wednesday, June 19, 2019 02:00 p.m. - 02:30 p.m.

Abstract: The demands on the computing industry are growing at a frightening rate. New technology is needed to support an emerging set of compute-intensive workloads. To achieve unprecedented speed with the right amount of computing power, a new and open ecosystem is key to enabling these innovations. Join us to learn how HPE’s leadership in both the Gen-Z and Compute Express Link (CXL) consortiums are key to making Memory-Driven Computing work for next-generation technology and how we are driving new innovative solutions at the rack-scale level.

From the Labs: What’s going on in the Memory-Driven Computing Sandbox? (T8459)

Speakers: Sharad Singhal, Mike Woodacre

Date and time: Wednesday, June 19, 2019 04:00 p.m. - 04:30 p.m.

Abstract: Memory-Driven Computing is the ultimate composable architecture. The Sandbox, powered by experimental HPE Superdome Flex systems, is where customers’ skunkworks teams can run memory-driven experiments at full throttle. Join Labs’ researchers to find out what’s been going on in the Sandbox, like holding an entire enterprise in memory at once to see it live and breathe, accelerating understanding of correlation between genetic mutation and disease and looking for emergent behaviors across a global network that could herald a zero-day attack.

DEMOS

What’s going on in the Memory-Driven Computing Sandbox? (DEMO1404)

Description: The Memory-Driven Computing Sandbox, powered by experimental HPE Superdome Flex systems, allows customers’ research and development teams to run memory-driven experiments at full throttle. Find out how we are implementing software-defined scalable memory on the Memory-Driven Computing Sandbox and see early results from customer applications.

Analog AI accelerators for an exponential world (DEMO1401)

Description: As AI model complexity grows exponentially, Moore’s Law begins to fold, and the world’s energy supply stagnates, Hewlett Packard Labs applies novel accelerators to harness the power of the analog world to perform trillions of calculations per second using just a few watts. Visit the Hewlett Packard Labs Pavilion to see the entire solution stack, running real-world neural net workloads on fully functional FPGA-based prototype hardware.

Intrusion detection system: Real-time protection for the running operating system (DEMO1407)

Description: By 2021, cybercrime will cost the world economy an estimated six trillion dollars, and the battles today are asymmetric and evolving, so resolution requires building defenses against new vulnerabilities. Hewlett Packard Labs' research to extend the Silicon Root of Trust is aimed at providing real-time protection for the running operating system. See this security innovation live as it continually scans for nefarious changes to the kernel during system operation to provide continuous protection for your server against real-time attacks.

Secure, authenticate and protect every server or switch component, anytime, anywhere (DEMO1408)

Description: How do you assess the authenticity of a system? What’s inside the chassis? Are all the components from memory modules to network interface cards genuine? At Hewlett Packard Enterprise, we implement assurances into product development through the supply chain to provide customers with peace of mind. Learn how Hewlett Packard Labs is collaborating across the industry to develop component authentication technology to provide continual assurance through the supply chain and during operation for components and data.

Trusting your infrastructure: How to scale and automate infrastructure security (DEMO1406)

Description: Experience the future of infrastructure security automation research. As IT infrastructure grows more complex across a diverse range of platforms, the challenge is increasing to ensure that all infrastructure platforms are secure and compliant within set policies. See a research demonstration of new security verification tools from Hewlett Packard Labs, such as platform certificates, which seamlessly automate the detection of unauthorized, compromised, misconfigured or out-of-date platforms within heterogeneous IT infrastructure environments.

The data gold rush: Trapped at the edge today, Swarm Learning is how we’re mining for data intelligence tomorrow (DEMO1409)

Description: Today, machines are trained at the core and reference the edge for data and insights. But with so much data stranded at the edge – unavailable due to privacy, data sovereignty, intermittent connectivity or sheer size – it’s inefficient. But what if we train at the edge so the edge devices get smarter and train their peers? And, with no central authority, you integrate blockchain to add control, privacy and security. Swarm Learning is the next gold rush for machine intelligence.

Gen-Z in action: A new approach to composable fabric infrastructure (DEMO1405)

Description: Gen-Z, developed by the Gen-Z Consortium, will simplify and unify data access within a single enclosure or at rack-scale. Check out the latest progress on pluggable Gen-Z modules and learn how these form factors can plug into future systems. See a Gen-Z rack-scale system running on Hewlett Packard Enterprise hardware that demonstrates two core memory capabilities.

Driving Memory-Driven Computing from research to reality (DEMO1402)

Description: Customers are demanding new levels of compute performance and functionality to meet the demands of quickly evolving workloads. At Hewlett Packard Labs, we are inventing the building blocks to move computing forward from today's rigid, constrained systems to an open, fast and flexible new world of Memory-Driven Computing. Check out our display of breakthroughs from Hewlett Packard Labs and across the company and see how our technologies fit together to power tomorrow’s memory-driven enterprise.

Peek inside Hewlett Packard Lab (DEMO1403)

Description: Take a virtual tour of Hewlett Packard Labs and see how we create devices and components for the next-generation of photonics, accelerators, and systems.
