Bay Area Developers Meetup August 2 - Get ready to program in a Memory-Driven Computing environment

Calling all Bay Area Developers! Hewlett Packard Labs is hosting our very first meetup event on Wednesday, August 2nd from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. US pacific time at Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Palo Alto.

This is your chance to get a close-up look at a real hardware design of The Machine program. Chat with one of our world class researchers, and explore programming models and tools for Memory-Driven Computing in a featured talk by Hewlett Packard Labs senior research engineer, Susan Spence. RSVP by Tuesday, August 1st for your ticket to an evening of technical conversations, learning, and networking (and pizza and drinks)!

Featured Talk: Programming models and tools for Memory-Driven Computing

Abstract: New technologies in persistent memory and fabric-attached memory present opportunities for new and adopted software. We will explore programming frameworks and solutions we have developed in the context of The Machine program at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, which demonstrate to application developers how to access persistent memory, focus on in-memory data, share data easily and maintain data consistency in the face of failures. These tools illustrate how software can benefit from Memory-Driven Computing.

Speaker Bio: Susan Spence is a senior research engineer working on Managed Data Structures software for The Machine at Hewlett Packard Labs. Her current research focuses on ease of programming and data sharing for data structures created and used directly in persistent memory. She has experience in distributed systems, storage systems, information management, and persistent programming languages. Susan has a PhD in computer science from the University of Glasgow in Scotland on persistent, distributed systems, a number of publications and patents, and has worked for Hewlett Packard Labs for 17 years.

Don’t forget to sign-up for The Machine User Group to receive an invitation to our private community discussion group where developers, technologists, and industry experts interested in Memory-Driven Computing get technical about programming in a world of abundant memory.
