Discover 2013 – The future of memory according to Martin Fink

Contributed by Richard Lewington, Technical Communications HP Labs

HP_05Dec2012_4151_blog.jpgThe explosion of data is pushing the limits of scale and performance within today’s data center. How can all this information be stored and accessed rapidly enough to harness the power of Big Data, enabling raw data to be turned into actionable insight in real time?

On June 13, Martin Fink, HP CTO and Director of HP Labs will share his answers to these questions at an appropriately data-intensive location: Las Vegas!

Presenting at HP Discover 2013, Martin will outline how HP’s research is addressing fundamental shifts in data storage with an eye towards the ultimate goal: a “universal memory” that will spell the end of the line for the memory hierarchy that has been an indispensable part of the fabric of computing for the last half-century.

Martin Fink is CTO and Director of HP Labs, HP’s corporate research lab, which focuses on the ideas and innovation that will shape the future of HP. Over his 27-year career at HP, Martin has worked in a wide range of roles from customer support, leading the company’s Linux efforts and running HP’s Business Critical Systems and Converged Application Systems businesses.

Those lucky enough to be attending HP Discover 2013 can hear Martin speak at the Innovation Theater at 9:00 am on Thursday June 13th. Register in advance for session IT4286.
