Next Next: The new security will be built-in instead of bolted on

By Curt Hopkins, Managing Editor, Hewlett Packard Labs

At Hewlett Packard Labs, our goal is to look past today’s emerging technologies, not just looking ahead to future trends, but shaping what’s beyond the next big thing. This week, we’re profiling the latest expression of the Next Next in “Rethinking Security: How a ground-up approach can keep data safe.”

Specifically, we are examining two aspects of that approach.

First, we look into a radical new version of system restoration with Kate Mallichan.

Then, we are explore our solution to the compromised threat assessment resulting from the way today’s sophisticated malware corrupts an affected device’s operating system, making it difficult or even impossible to know you are being hacked in the first place, first with Richard Brown.

Then in an animation from the Labs Notebook.

Take an in-depth look at our work on security for The Machine and beyond, and let us know what you think, either in the comments below or via our Twitter account, @hpe_labs.

We’d also love to hear what other topics you’d be interested in reading about in future installments of the Next Next.
