6120g/xg Front Port 1 Problem
Wierd Problem with Port 1, etc:
=========================
Problem is defintely not H/W because problem is happening on multiple 6120g/xg switches in different enclosures.
Explanation of problem symptom:
===========================
Switch has 4 external ports (1-4):
if a pc is connected to port 1, port 1 of the switch will light up, port 1 of the GUI will light up, port 1 of the terminal console will indicate port is up. This is good.
But:
if a pc is connected to port 2, port 2 of the switch will light up, port 2 of the GUI will NOT light up, port 2 of the terminal console will indicate port is DOWN, BUT port 1 of the GUI will light up, port 1 of the terminal console will indicate port is up even when port 1 has nothing connected. This is wierd. pc connected to port 2 can ping servers in the enclosure
if a pc is connected to port 3, port 3 of the switch will light up, port 3 of the GUI will NOT light up, port 3 of the terminal console will indicate port is DOWN, BUT port 1 of the GUI will light up, port 1 of the terminal console will indicate port is up even when port 1 has nothing connected. This is wierd. pc connected to port 3 can ping servers in the enclosure
if a pc is connected to port 4, port 3 of the switch will light up, port 3 of the GUI will NOT light up, port 4 of the terminal console will indicate port is DOWN, BUT port 1 of the GUI will light up, port 1 of the terminal console will indicate port is up even when port 1 has nothing connected. This is wierd. pc connected to port 4 can ping servers in the enclosure
So there is no network connectivity issue, but the issue is if anything is connected to port 2 or 3 or 4 and if nothing is connected to port 1, port 1 will say UP. It should say DOWN really.
