ASR on BL460 G1

I have a blade that did an ASR and I cannot find any clues as to why except the following log:

The system has rebooted from a Automatic Server Recovery (ASR) event.

Re: ASR on BL460 G1

Hello,

Can you please provide me with IML log of this blade (found in ILO web interface - Integrated Management Log), beside that, what is Onboard Administrator FW, ILO FW?

Re: ASR on BL460 G1

I will forward the logs tomorrow since I do not have system access right now.

However regarding Firmwares they are all to at least Firmware maintenance CD 8.70 or more recent, OA is 2.6, and PSP is 8.3. All the enclosure blades are up to this standard and there are no mismatches.

Re: ASR on BL460 G1

Hi,
install on your Windows the current
iLO 2 Management Controller Driver for Windows Server 2003
and
the Integrated Lights-Out Management Interface Driver for Windows Server

that was our problem.
new ilo2 firmware, but old ilo agents at windows

Re: ASR on BL460 G1

This is a known issue. I came across it last year with a customer.
Do you have Power Capping and is ASR switched off in the BIOS? The latter allowing Windows to save a dump file if happens again.
ASR shouldn't be on in my opinion if it's a mail server or has any database connected.

Re: ASR on BL460 G1

Hi Yalla,

Power Capping is not enabled. However I am pondering on disabling ASR, since clearly it does not work as it should.

Re: ASR on BL460 G1

Hello,

Please update ilo to version 1.81 and download newest ILO drivers - both interface and management driver.
