Attach SAS Tape Drive to C class Blade?
Hi,
Does anyone know if its possible/feasible to attach a SAS backup device - in this case a Storageworks 1/8 G2 - to a C class blade center for a Windows 2003 R2 BL460 to be able to access it?
I was guessing the hardware required might be a P700m SAS Mezzanine card and a BL SAS Switch. We are planning to add an MSA2000sa to our Blade Centers so would be adding the P700m & BL SAS Switches anyway.
Thanks,

Re: Attach SAS Tape Drive to C class Blade?
Well the quickspecs states "Supports SAS tape devices for optional backup "
And the supported tapes ae
Tape Autoloaders
HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 LTO-4 Ultrium 1760 SAS Tape Autoloader AK377A
HP StorageWorks 1/8 G2 LTO-3 Ultrium 920 SAS Autoloader AH558A
Simples

Re: Attach SAS Tape Drive to C class Blade?
Hi,
You are right about the Hardware, you need the P700 (take the one without cache) and the sas switch. Another less elegant but cheaper way could have been a pci expansion blade 448018-B21 and a legacy Sc40Ge SAS adapter, but as you plan to buy an MSA you should focus on your first idea
