BL 460 G6 lose network connection Windows 2008R2

Hello,

we have a c7000 encl with BL460c G6 Blades.

Windows 2008R2 core server (without SP1).

Using hyper-v cluster.

No Virtual Connect, Pass-through network modules.

All NICs are connected to Procurve 5406 switches.

Sometimes, one or more NICs are losing their network connection.

This means, we have no "link failure", only the tcp/ip connection is not working.

When we reboot the blade, connection is working again.

I could not see any message in the windows event log or IML.

Somebody same problems? We have updated nic drivers to latest version.

Do we need to update the pass through modules also? Is this needed?

Could this also cause the problem?

It only happens one time in a month or so.

Not all network connections from the blade are down.

Regards

Hello,

is the problem seen on all the blades?
I don't think there's much to upgrade in the pass-through module.
What about firmware?
Maybe there is a OS-patch too?
Are you running virtual machines on it? Maybe this can be pinned down to a VM or VM type?

What NIC adapters do you have installed? Any additional NIC's beside the on-board of the BL460c G6?

Hi!

Only with the 10GbE or the 1GbE? Or both?

Are you running some kind of teaming/load balancing?
Updated the NCU - or HP networking software if so.

Can you disable the teaming, maybe it stops then.

Check the load balancing/LACP etc settings on the switch.

Re: BL 460 G6 lose network connection Windows 2008R2

We are currently experiencing the exact same issue with a BL460 G6.  We had a power bump the other day, and all the blades came back up without issue, except for one Windows 2008 R2 box.  The NICs show as connected, but there is no network connectivity from or to them.  When I disable the port on the chassis, the NIC shows as Network Cable Disconnected, and comes back when I re-enable it.  We have the latest firmware and drivers on the blade.  It is our primary DC and I would hate to have to rebuild it and then find it was a simple fix.

We have no load balancing on it.  No extra NICs added to the blade, just the two built in.  No other blades in the chassis are experiencing this issue.
