BL20p G4 and 4Gb Brocade switch for p-class bladesystems

I am having a dickens of a time with this combination. We are attempting to boot this system from the SAN (an EVA 6000, to be exact). We have loaded an OS on the internal drive and the switch recognizes the WWPN on the HBA. After presenting a disk on LUN 1 to the blade and installing the OS on the SAN disk and rebooting, the WWPN disappears from the switch. We have not any such problem with any of our other G2 or G3 systems.

The HBA in this G4 is a QLA2312 mezzenine card. Is there some sort of incompatibility at play here?

I am tearing my hair out over this one! Has anyone seen this behavior?

Thanks,
Alton

Make sure you have current fw on the Brocade pClass switch. The G4 was introduced after the B series pClass switch - although that in itself should not make this an issue. I take it you are using WWPN zoning? What happens when the blade tries to boot? Why are you loading an OS on local disk?
