Hello,
I'm wondering if ESXi 4.1 really has support installing on BL260c G5 over SATA disks.
As (http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/us/en/servers/4x-servers.html) its supported and does not say anything about SATA ou SAS configuration.
Tried to install in one machine and the installation detected two separated disks. Continued till the end and now is the question. Will I have RAID1 support for this? In a failure of one disk, will continue to run?
The only thing that I really know about SATA controllers is that VMFS Datastores are not supported over it.
Tnx for now.
Regards

SolutionIt's supported but you won't have RAID 1. ESX/ESXi don't support the RAID mode on the embedded controller in the BL260c G5, it only supports the "SATA" mode.
Explanation on why here:

With ESX there's a further restriction on SATA drives that you can't have a vmkcore core dump partition on them. That restriction might not apply to ESXi installable though.
