BL35P to run Windows 2008 R2 x64

Trying to install windows 2008 R2 x64 standard to a BL35p blade. As the installation goes I get to a point where it says "a required cd dvd rom driver is missing..." it will not let me get past this. I have search google relentlessly and found that this error is not necessarily for the cd/dvd rom (considering I'm using the virtual media mount and there really is no cd dvd rom) Numerous suggestions say to install the drivers for the scsi card. I have tried this, it does see the drivers but when i try to install them it says "no new device found" and still won't let me proceed...anyone got any ideas?

install 2008 r2 with out smart start cd

then install the proliant supportpack afterwards

use internet explorer upto version 7 max but not after and do not use mozilla..

This is how we thank each other in the forum

Hi Mark,
I wasn't using smart start for the installation. Thank you for the response though.

Re: BL35P to run Windows 2008 R2 x64

First - update the BIOS and ILO firmwares

As the CD/DVD is kind of faked thru the iLO I suggest you try extracting the "HP ProLiant iLO Advanced and Enhanced System Management Controller Driver for Windows Server 2008 x64 Editions" or the "HP ProLiant Integrated Lights-Out Management Interface Driver for Windows Server 2003/2008 x64 Editions"
from the 2008x64 Download page not the 2008 R2 download page.

Whatever you do DONT USE THE 2008 R2 Proliant Support Pack - IT WILL NOT WORK

Use the 2008x64 one instead.

The R2 one has two differences.
1. It has removed driver support for non-supported servers that you will need. eg iLO1 driver....dah dah!
2. At the moment the only R2 unique bit is for NIC card support which you cannot fit in blade anyway.

But you will be unsupported by HP of course.
