BL460G5 CPU / Mem Upgraded, Stuck At BIOS Splash

I installed a new CPU (same model as other) and replaced two 1GB sticks with with eight 2GB sticks.

I turn it on and it stays on the HP BIOS splash screen. No keyboard input is accepted. I can access iLO, which still shows original CPU, original RAM but all else is normal (according to iLO). I removed the CMOS battery for a few minutes, still no changes.

Anything I'm missing? Thanks!

Re: BL460G5 CPU / Mem Upgraded, Stuck At BIOS Splash

After removing the additional CPU the server starts up fine. I'm trying to install an E5450 next to an existing E5450, are their any special steps to add another proc to these blades?

Thanks!

Update BIOS before replacing CPU

I flashed it (was running latest already) and now it blinks a red LED for the health monitor. When I remove the secondary CPU it boots up normally.

Tried removing the battery for a brief amount of time and still no love.

Could this be a bad CPU?

Thanks,

~ Jon

Hi Jon.

Have you tried installing the new CPU with the original memory configuration ?

I did try the original configuration, but I still stopped at the white bios screen.

I should be receiving a new E5450 to try out here soon.
