BL460c G6 & SmartStart CD 8.3 & RHEL 5 issues

Whenever I boot my proliant blade server bl460c G6 with the SmartStart CD 8.3, it does not give me any option to install Linux, it rather gives options to install only MS Windows OS.
I need to install Red Hat Linux version 5 on my blade server. Please tell me what to do.

Best Regards,
Jimmy Vance

Re: BL460c G6 & SmartStart CD 8.3 & RHEL 5 issues

You don't need the SmartStart CD to install any OS. It's just a tool used to help install Windows.

To install Linux on your system, configure the hardware as needed, either maually or using the SmartStart CD.

Boot from the OS media, The minimum supported RHEL version on the BL460 G6 is RHEL 5 update 3, also called RHEL5.3

Once the OS is installed you can install the PSP (ProLiant Support Pack) For RHEL5.3

32 bit
psp-8.31.rhel5.i686.en.tar.gz (82 MB)

or 64 bit
psp-8.31.rhel5.x86_64.en.tar.gz (79 MB)
