BL460c stuck at Standby(OFF), iLO2 works

I have a BL460c that is unable to boot.
- The indicator lights on the front of the server do light up when the blade is connected to the enclosure.
- We still are able to access the iLO system
- We have been unable to boot the system using power button on the front of the server.
- We have been unable to boot the system using the iLO administrative console.
- The enclosure does not report any errors with the current system.
- According to the iLO administrative console the server is in the "STANDBY (OFF)" state however I am unable to get any critical system readings yet (system temp, fan speed, etc..).
- We have tried to move the server to a different bay on the enclosure however the results have been the same.
- We are ABLE to get a response from the UID light on the front of the server through iLO.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks

Re: BL460c stuck at Standby(OFF), iLO2 works

Check in the c3000/7000 Onboard Administrator:

Enclosure Information
- Enclosure Settings
- Device Power Sequence

There's a line for every slot in the rack.
First column lists device in slot, the second is power options...
'enabled' means a 'power on' delay is set up(nice for staggering server startup after a power failure)
'Disabled' means that no delays are in use, and finally, 'No PowerOn', which should really be self explanatory.
Check that the slots you tried is set to either 'Enabled' or 'Disabled'

Each bay is confirmed to be 'Disabled' I am using the most current firmware across my whole system, I should note that this server did work at one time. Now it wont power up.

Re: BL460c stuck at Standby(OFF), iLO2 works

We had a similar problem with a brand new blade.

Resetting the NVRAM seemed to fix it;

Steps to clear the NVRAM are:

1. Turn the server off and unplug it. Take the case off.
2. Locate the System Maintenance switch on the system board.
3. Turn the switch # 6 on the switch (System Maintenance Switch) to ON position
4. Cycle the server power up and down.
5. Reset the switch to the off position.
6. Restore power and reconfigure the system (set the date and time and other configuration)

Yeah that did not work, the server will attempt to boot over and over again. OA will briefly notice it as running (green) before changing it back to standby (amber) and waiting for it to power-cycle again.

looks like an issue with h/w.

usually, when you press and hold and power button for couple of second it should power on from standby.

put the server on bare minmimum configuration to further isolate.

try in different slot

check the IML logs if you find something thre

check the syslog of the server under OA show all report

thanks,

We are having same kind of situation with DL385 G6. We have not yet been able to try the NVRAM fix and I'll hope it will do the trick.

We had HP come out and replace the mainboard, this fixed the problem.
