BL465c G5 ASR reboot

Hi.

We have three servers that have the same problem the setup is as follows. BL465c G5 4gb RAM, 1 quad CPU, 1 QMH2462 FC HBA, windows 2003, BIOS 2008/11/06, ILO 1.70.

The servers hangs and then ASR reboots. This happens every other hour. We have narrowed it down to bios and ILO firmware. When we downgrade one of them the server is fine, No ASR reboot. Anyone that have had similar symptoms?

How about if You disable the ASR and see what happens.

See this doc...
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00797875/c00797875.pdf

Next time one of them hangs, use the iLO NMI crash feature and get the dump to HP to analyze.

Re: BL465c G5 ASR reboot

When trying to make a NMI crash dump it only gets the standard dump 0x0000080 which you get all the time when you do a nmi crash. Doesn't seem to be any thing with windows as much as it's the combination between the bios, ilo and the FC HBA..

Re: BL465c G5 ASR reboot

We have the same issue with 2 servers - BL465cG5 32GB RAM 2Quad Core CPU,Emulex FC mezz card, Win2003 64bit , BIOS 2008/11/06, ILO 1.70 running SQL2005 SP3 Hotfix1.

Server crashed 2-3 times daily - downgrade BIOS to previos version seems to resolve the issue.

Anybody else expirienced the same problem?

I'm having the exact same issue. I have the same BIOS ILO versions as everyone else. How do I downgrade the BIOS?

Re: BL465c G5 ASR reboot

I'm having simliar issues with my BL460c.. seems to only be a problem on the x64 servers. I think it's driver related.

Re: BL465c G5 ASR reboot

Yes exactly the same here with two servers and it is BIOS 2008/11/06 and/or ILO 1.70

Re: BL465c G5 ASR reboot

I'm running PSP 8.20 on all my servers, I ended up downgrading the "HP ProLiant iLO 2 Management Controller Driver for Windows Server 2003" from 1.9.0.0 to 1.8.0.0.

So far so good here, this goes for both my BL460c and BL465c blades.
