BL465c Vmware esx 3.02 firmware update problem
Hi.
We are working on upgrading the firmware on our esx servers to get up to al level we can live with. I downloaded the FW maintenence CD 8.10 from HP and booted on it(previous firmware level was around 7.90). I upgraded BIOS, NIC and array FW and when I booted up the machine it had recalculated the PCI device numbers. The result was that ESX was pointed to wrong device eth0-3 and had made new devices eth4-7 that was working.
Anyone had this problem or have some solution on how to workaround. We have a case at HP but they were unable to recreate the problem.

Re: BL465c Vmware esx 3.02 firmware update problem
We got the exact same problem with ESX 3.5 and FW Maintenance CD 8.30.
(BL465c, NC326m)
Did you ever get a good explanation of why this is happening and how to solve this problem?
Our sollution (workaround) was to reinstall the host, that was the quickest way to solve the problem for us.
Anyone else who has had this problem?

Re: BL465c Vmware esx 3.02 firmware update problem
Hi..
Not much to do. It was a update in the bios where the PCI device numbers were updated.
We did the same "workaround" and did the firmware upgrade when we made the jump to esx 3.5
