BL685c G1 Memory Upgrade (C7000)
Hi Peeps
I would like to upgrade memory in the above blade server.
The memory config is as below,
DIMM 1A ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 2A ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 3B ( DDR2 ) 1024 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 4B ( DDR2 ) 1024 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 5C ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 6C ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 7D ( DDR2 ) 1024 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 8D ( DDR2 ) 1024 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 9E ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 10E ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 11F Not Installed
DIMM 12F Not Installed
DIMM 13G ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 14G ( DDR2 ) 2048 Mbytes (667 MHz)
DIMM 15H Not Installed
DIMM 16H Not Installed
ECC memory installed Yes
according to HP Document it supports 64 GB
I would like to put 4GB chips (PC2-5300) 667 Mhz in as well.
as per best practice i will be moving chips from e & g to F & H and installing 4gb in E & H (largest memory furthest from the 2nd processor.
can please someone sanity check this?
thanks

Re: BL685c G1 Memory Upgrade (C7000)
Hello,
yes, it should work, put largest memory furthest. Maybe consider removing 1GB modules and replace them as well. Your server will drive 128GB ram - with using 8GB modules. We run our BL685c G1 with 80GB ram - 8GB modules + 2GB modules - fully populated slots. Absolutelly no problem (except horific price of 8GB modules... :) )
