Blade Server Name Not Updating in OA

Hi,

Hoping you guys can help me with a strange glitch I'm seeing in our Onboard Administrator.

We have a new ProLiant BL685c G6 Blade Server installed in Bay 3 of our C7000 enclosure. It is currently built with Windows 2003 Ent Ed 64bit and configured with a name, network details, and is part of a domain. Unlike a number of these blades which I have built recently, the OA does not want to pick up the server's new name and display it correctly under the Device Bays list. You can see from the attached screen shot that it is set to "linux" and has remained that way since the blade was first inserted.

I have rebooted and reseated the blade a number of times with no results.

I'm fairly new to Blade technology so please excuse me if I am missing something obvious but I look forward to any comments you may have.

Regards
James

Re: Blade Server Name Not Updating in OA

All of these blades were built using SmartStart 8.30. Once built is has just been a case of adding windows service packs and hotfixes.

I havent installed any further agents or support packs. This is the only server out of 5 built the same way that is showing this issue.

Try to login to the ILO, select Administration tab, select Access, go to Options, there you update server name in the Server Name column and then apply..

Re: Blade Server Name Not Updating in OA

Thank you all for your input, it is very much appreciated.

Jarkko K, your sugestion to add the name manually in the BIOS has resolved this issue.

I wonder why this is the only time I've had to do this manually?

Thanks again everyone for your prompt responses. Points have been allocated.
