Re: C7000 Onboard Administrator doesn't show hostnames

if you can't manually invoke a hostname discovery then you have to, I assume, wait for the periodic check made by SIM.

Question: What is the amount of time in the periodic check?

Re: C7000 Onboard Administrator doesn't show hostnames

Could you post the output of
MP -> CM -> ID -> H
from both the 11.23 and 11.31 systems?

I suspect the OA gets the Integrity hostname from the MP. At least I think it works this way with ProLiant.

Re: C7000 Onboard Administrator doesn't show hostnames

Michael (Leu) I already posted the non-working output of the GSP-ID-H command. Here it is again.

MP of 11.31 blade
Host System Configuration:
Host System Name : hostname.domain.net
Host System Primary OS: HP-UX B.11.31
Host System Current OS: HP-UX B.11.31
Host SMH URL : http://10.2.2.2:2301

MP of 11.23 blade
Host System Configuration:
Host System Name : Status is not available
Host System Primary OS: Status is not available
Host System Current OS: Status is not available
Host SMH URL : Status is not available

I agree with your implied point that the info needs to be pushed to the MP from where the OA will pick it up. However any application of the suggested SIM agents has NOT caused that to happen. Could it be missing WBEM providers?

Re: C7000 Onboard Administrator doesn't show hostnames

Ooops sorry, stupid me... should have read it properly!

It could either be the a missing WBEM provider or it is just not implemented in 11.23. I would say not implemented is more likely, because the base WBEM providers come preinstalled in any recent 11.23 release.

Re: C7000 Onboard Administrator doesn't show hostnames

Did some tests on a bl870c with 11.31:

1) /sbin/init.d/cim_server stop
2) changed hostname
3) waited
4) checked GSP/MP, still old hostname
5) /sbin/init.d/cim_server start
6) new hostname shows in GSP/MP

So it seems it really is one of the WBEM providers on 11.31 that does the communicating with the GSP/MP...

Re: C7000 Onboard Administrator doesn't show hostnames

That helps a lot Michael. Thanks.
I installed 11.23 0609 with Dec 2009 patches but it's obviously not got what is needed.
I'll look into updating the WBEM software. Thanks again.

Re: C7000 Onboard Administrator doesn't show hostnames

While I was fiddling around with the hostname our SIM server received the following event:

Summary: The blade name is changed.
Description: The alert is sent from the blade if the blade name is changed. The OA uses this as an indicator that it should retrieve the new blade name for display through OAs management mechanisms or logs.
ProviderName: FPL_IndicationProvider
SystemCreationClassName: CIM_ComputerSystem
