C7000 midplane question...

We replaced a C7000 midplane with an older part number midplane (was a 519345-001 replaced with a 414050-001). The only thing that we noticed was the VC restore didn't work. Other than that all the devices showed up good. Is there a performance or support reason to replace this midplane again? Other than the obvious one... put the correct part in according to the system part number.

Re: C7000 midplane question...

Did you set the serial number *before* inserting the interconnect blades???

Hope this helps!

The serial number was put in, but it would get an error because the part number associated with it was incorrect. The way it showed that was by not reinstalling the configuration.

Re: C7000 midplane question...

Looks like the difference is only related to ROHS:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=3942307&prodTypeId=3709945&objectID=c02507592

AFAIR the VC config has a problem if the blades (server and interconnects) are inserted while the enclosure SN is not already set.

Hope this helps!
