C7000 real redundant with Enable Dynamic Power and AC Redundant Mode

Hello,

we habe a C7000 with 4 Bl460c and 4 Power Supplys inserted in Bay 1,2,4,5

The power supplys are connectet to 2 power circuts 1,2 to circut 1 and 4,5 to circut 2.
We use AC Redundant Mode and enabled Dynamic Power Mode.

I see in the OA on the power subsystem that the power supply in bay 2 and 5 are delivering 0 Watt (because of Dynamic Power Savings Mode)
Just bay 1 and 3 deliver power (both about 500W and we need complety about 1000W)

So my question is, if one power circut falls (so bay 4 and 5 are without power) does the servers shut off cause they will only get 500W from the PSU in bay 1?

So can we enable dynamic power mode and also have redundancy or did we have to disable dynamic power mode to be redundant?

Thanks for your help!

Re: C7000 real redundant with Enable Dynamic Power and AC Redundant Mode

Description for Dynamic Power Dynamic Power -------------------------------------------

If enabled, Dynamic Power automatically places unused
power supplies in standby mode to increase enclosure
power supply efficiency, thereby minimizing enclosure
power consumption during lower power demand. Increased
power demands automatically return standby power
supplies to full performance. This mode is not supported for
low voltage on the c7000 enclosure.

This is documented in OA user guide
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00705292/c00705292.pdf

This mean OA controls the use of Power supplies when Dynamic Power Saving is enabled depend on the power requirement in the enclosure.

If one side trips OA should take of Power supply in 2 which is 0Watt to start giving power as required.

I hope this information helps.

Yes, if one AC line fails, the PSU in bay line will deliver the 1000W and if more than the PSU capacity is required(2250/2400W) it will take power from the PSU in bay2 etc.

Thanks for the detailed information!

Now I know that my configuration is right, and Dynamic Power Mode don't interfere with AC redundant mode in case of an error.
