Can 1GB SFP be used on Flex-10 ?

Can 1GB SFP s be used on the Virtual Connect Flex 10 module to provide 1GB uplinks? (used to provide a 1GB uplink to a LAN switch that does not yet support 10GB)

Re: Can 1GB SFP be used on Flex-10 ?

Paul,
The Flex-10 supports SFP and SFP+

SFP transceivers are for data rates up to 4.25 Gbit/s.

10 Gbit/s transceivers are available in several form factors, such as XFP, and the newest variant "SFP+", in form factor virtually identical to the SFP type.

Re: Can 1GB SFP be used on Flex-10 ?

I already had some VC 1/10 modules when I moved to VC Flex-10. What I did was put the VC Flex-10 into Bay's 1 & 2 and put the VC 1/10 into bays 3 & 4. I then ordered some CX-4 cables (.5M) and uplinked bays 1 - 3 and bays 2 - 4. Then on each of the VC 1/10 I connected 4 1G cat6 connections to the core switches in a LAG/LACP configuration. This gives me the 10GB in the chassis and 4GB out of the chassis without using any expensive connectors.
