Connect OA to VC port as upllink?

My customer has gigabit ports only. They don't have 10/100/1000 ports to connect the OA uplink. Is it possible to use the 10/100/1000 ports on the VC 1:10Gb-F module as an uplink port for the OA?

They have a 10Gb shared uplink set for the VC module. They already have a vnet created for the OOB MGMT VLAN. They want to connect the OA uplink to copper port 1 of the VC module, then assign port 1 to the OOB MGMT vNet. Will it work?

Thanks.

Re: Connect OA to VC port as upllink?

Hi Tim,
The answer to your first question in No! You cannot use the CV Ethernet ports for the OA Uplink.

You say that your customer only has 1Gb ports. You mean that they wont autonegotiate down ??

Did you try connecting the OA uplink port to your 1Gb switch port, and setting the the OA port to "Auto" ? I seem to remember reading somewhere that the uplink Can be 1Gb.

The external switch for connecting all OAs is a Cisco Nexus 2148. It has 1Gb ports only, does not autonegotiate down to 10/100.
Thanks.

Re: Connect OA to VC port as upllink?

Just found out that the OA Ethernet port supports 10/100/1000. So we won't have a problem. Thanks.
