Connect SAN Virtual Connect to Storage EVA

Hello

Is possible connect San Virtual Connect directly to Hosts Port the EVA.

How to connnet Virtual Connect to storage ??

Normal connectivity is through a SAN Switch. Note: the SAN switch must support NPIV. I think that this requirement would
stop a Direct-to-EVA connection from working.

Unless You are using EVA4400 with built-in brocade 8Gb switches

The HP Virtual Connect solution does require a compatible SAN switch (supporting NPIV) between the VC-FC module and the disk storage such as an EVA. As already mentioned, the EVA 4400 can be purchased with embedded SAN switches that do meet this requirement. Otherwise you must have a SAN switch to use the Virtual Connect FC solution.
Connecting storage directly to a VC-FC module is not supported by HP (and I've never seen it work).

It's correct, simply because VC-FC uplink ports and FC SW Ports are different in function. So EVA could not connect directly to VC-FC Ports ! It need another SAN SW connect uplink -uplink to VCFC. Then EVA connecr to that SAN SW.

But I wonder if, do you have any offcial doccument confirm about this prob. My customer need a HP Doc :)

Its not "a problem". Its SAN standards.
VC connects to ports configured for NPIV... which are SAN switch ports unless you can find something else with NPIV.

All of the Virtual Connect HP docs state that they connect to switches.

First rule of SAN or Network Virtual Connect.
ITS NOT A SWITCH.

Absolutely!

I believe someone stated above there IS a 4400 EVA w/ an embedded switch thats the easiest way to do it hands down. Best practice would call for dual San switches which could get pricey..

With the EVA4400 model that includes the embedded 8 GB Brocade switch, you have a full-fledged SAN switch that can connect to a HP Virtual Connect SAN solution.
