Connecting External servers to Brocade Bladesystem 4/12 SAN Switches
Hello All,
I've a c7000 bladesystem with an EVA4400 storage for the BL680 and BL860 Servers inside the chassis.
I want to connect one of my DB Server which is rx6600, to the EVA storage.
Now, can i connect the rx6600 server to the external ports of existing Brocade Bladesystem 4/12 SAN Switches inside blade chasis to give the access of EVA or i need to buy external SAN Switches to make this happen.
KIndly assist. Need to decide on hardware urgently!!
Thanks in Advance.

Re: Connecting External servers to Brocade Bladesystem 4/12 SAN Switches
That switch is a 24-port Brocade switch, with the particularity that 16 ports are connected internally to the 16 blade bays. You have 8 external ports available. You can connect them to other switches, to servers or to storage. Then create the zones in a appropiate way.
It's like any other Brocade SAN switch. Just make sure it has a recent firmware (v6.0.0b is not supported with EVAx400 or EVA 6.2x firmware)

Re: Connecting External servers to Brocade Bladesystem 4/12 SAN Switches
Yes - the 4/12 can use any 12 of the 16 internal and 8 external ports.
So if you are using 8 full height servers in an enclosure you have 4 external ports free before you need to upgrade the license.
So you can connect 4 external devices.
The 4/12 only comes with 2 SFPs so you would need to order 2 more to use these 4 ports.
