Customer c7000 with 2250 Watt power supply to support HP BL460c G8
Michael had an upgrade question:
****************
Just want to ask you if customer has c7000 enclosure with power supply 2250 Watt and G1 blade BL460c.
Today they would like to purchase BL460c Gen8 and put in the same enclosure which still have some available slots.
Please kindly advise do they need to upgrade the power supply to 2400 Watt to enable power on Bl460c G1 and Gen8. Is it mandatory ? What about if customer want to keep with the 2250 Watt power supply.
Is there any issue after upgrade power supply to 2400 Watt, then the old blade Bl460c G1 can not be powered on ?
The customer interconnect is a normal GbE2c switch interconnect.
Please advise what sort of possibility case may happen with this upgrade.

The blades have no idea what power supplies are installed in an enclosure, however they know how much power is available, this would be the interesting factor.. how many power supplies ? what is the current available wattage ?
Also, if they have GbE2c switches they will only be able to utilize 1Gbit connections to the Gen8s which is a shame, here either 10G switches or Virtual Connect should be positioned as an added value for the customer for future expansion.
