Firmware Upgrade c7000 power management
I need to upgrade OA, iLO and powerpic of c7000 "in production" enclosure.
I know that iLO firmware start immediately, but for powerpic and OA must I reboot Enclosure , and also all my production blades, before have the last version installed and working? I need to insert 2 new blade bl465c g7; is mandatory that I do enclosure upgrade before this operation?
thank you

Re: Firmware Upgrade c7000 power management
Past days we upgraded for all blades iLO firmware and ROM component. Power management controller actually is on 3.3 . Do you know if is mandatory to have it on 3.4(D) before upgrading OA, iLO and Powerpic Enclosure?
Thank you again
bye

Re: Firmware Upgrade c7000 power management
Boot it and update, so you have all components updated, including FC controllers, smartarrays, NICs, disks, BIOS, iLO etc ...
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Firmware Upgrade c7000 power management
For servers I don't know if I need to upgrade also power management controller; the last version is 3.4(D). for this I need to reboot blades servers. Is mandatory to upgrade this component to match last OA version or can I leave my versions (actually I have 3.3, 3.4 and 0.5)? Hope you understand my problem.
thank you

Re: Firmware Upgrade c7000 power management
There's a problem with 3.3.
It may report a very high power usage, and then the oa will not power up new or rebootet servers.
And you must be at OA 3.11 to support G7 servers.
You should get to FW release set 2010.10
Running WMware:
Beware you might have to upgrade NIC drives before upgrading NIC FW. /Broadcom NIC and ESX 4.1)
Windows.
Upgrading ILO from 1.81 or older to 1.82 or newer.
ILo driver and power managemtn driver must be upgraded first.
Release set etc:
