GbE2c Layer 2/3 no management IP

hello,

I have six GbE2c, one of them never had IP address.
I try to unplug it end replug, without success.
I try to set an IP address in Enclosure Bay IP Addressing, without success too.

Is someone has a solution?

Thank you ;-)

Re: GbE2c Layer 2/3 no management IP

If you can't get it to pickup tge IP from the EBIPA, then you cna set it via the serial port.

Read all of the installation chapter:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00701541/c00701541.pdf

Page 20 for the serial connection.

Re: GbE2c Layer 2/3 no management IP

Thank you, but why this switch doesn't obtain an IP address?

Re: GbE2c Layer 2/3 no management IP

Can't really tell.

But there's been some issues (If I remember correctly), with interconnect modules not being set for DHCP / bootp from factory.

And still some modules, get the IP, but doesn't report to the OA.

Re: GbE2c Layer 2/3 no management IP

Hi Siegfried,

You should set the management IP adres on these switches on interface 256 (management VLAN 4095) disable bootp and dhcp and all will do... do this via serialport..

Re: GbE2c Layer 2/3 no management IP

Hi Henry,

Could you please send me the command line to set Ip address on this interface?

Thank you a lot

Re: GbE2c Layer 2/3 no management IP

Ofcourse: hopes this helps... it's from some textnotes....

Connect a NULL modem cable to the serial interface 96,n,8,1 (no flow control).

login with the password â adminâ
first disable DHCP and BOOTP in CFG -> SYS
/cfg/sys
DCHP d
BOOTP d

Apply -> SAVE -> type /boot/reset

Log back into the switch

Submenu CFG -> L3 -> IF -> Interfacenumber 256

Option: ADDR
Option: ENA (interdace has to be enabled)

SAVE
APPLY
DIFF

For Gateway:

CFG -> IP -> GW -> 1

Should do it... oh.. the switch can only be reached through the same subnet where also the OA is connected to...

Thank you Henry, i'll try it and give you a feed back.

Re: GbE2c Layer 2/3 no management IP

Hi Henry,

That info looked like what I needed, too. Unfortunately it doesn't work, although it might be because our lab is running a c3000, not a c7000.

Using the 'ena' command on if256 just says the interface can't be enabled ('cur' says the interface is disabled). I also can't enable vlan 4095 - the same error comes up, i.e. the vlan can't be enabled. In addition, vlan 4095 says it contains no ports although I understand if256 is supposed to be in there.

Are you able to help with this?

Thanks!
