Install with SmartStart of Windows 2008 R2 SP1 DC Boot From SAN, At 2nd reboot, No Windows Files
I am attempting Install Windows 2008 in a Boot from SAN configuration. This is being done with a BL495 G7 Blade and Virtual Connect, FlexFabric. We see the LUN and we add the FCoE driver during SmartStart setup for initial copy of files to LUN. At first reboot, the Windows CD is disconnected and shutdown begins. Just after the boot to continue the install process, the installation breaks out to WinPE window and claims cannot execute a program; C:\hpssbem.exe, because the LUN, C: is not present. We install the FCoE driver, at this point and execute the program referenced above and the installation continues, i.e. copy files, decompress files, etc. Then another reboot but again we get the message file not found again; File: CLFS.SYS, Status: 0xc00000e9, Info: Windows failed to load because a required file is missing, or corrupt. We can tell the is not C: directory. Does this mean to add the FCoE Driver AGAIN. What is happening to give this situation? The LUN is on a EVA4400, the LUN has a single path and it is configured for Windows 2008. We have used both 36 GB and 136 GB LUNs, user wants a smaller LUN. This has been frustrating knowing we may be told to add the driver AGAIN. No literature we have read implies this much effort to install to FC SAN LUN and for Boot From SAN.
Thanks,

Re: Install with SmartStart of Windows 2008 R2 SP1 DC Boot From SAN, At 2nd reboot, No Windows Files
Did you set the BIOS of the CNA so that it is enabled and mapped to the lun?
Sorry... might be a stupid question, but if you keep having to load a driver... then it seems like it might no be enabled and/or mapped.
