Lazy admin > how to upgrade firmware easy and fast

Hi there,

I got some C-class HP hardware with diffrent firmware versions.

Also I'm very lazy so I don't want to every server one by one.

What's the easiest way to upgrade firmware for multiple c-class blades?

Download the bladefirmware CD... burn it.
Connect up a self powered DVD/CD to the OA, map it to all the servers and reboot all the servers. It may want to do more than one reboot to do all the firmware!!

Or
For windows
Put the online firmware cpxxxxxx.exe files in a share. Create a batch job to run them all and then shutdown and reboot.
Send a script to all the windows servers to map to the share and run the batch file.

Similar for REDHAT

Will it automaticly update all the firmwares then?

Because I knew you can script the mounting of a CD-ROM. But didn't knew the auto update.

For servers that do have an OS installed, use the HP Smart Update Manager (HPSUM) on the Firmware Maintenance CD. You can target multiple systems at once.
