Lost password on GbE2 interconnect switch

Hi All

I have three blade shelves which were configured a long time ago with a new password.
Today, I tried to log in to one of them with that password, but the system claims the password is not correct.
Three out of 6 interconnect switches have the same problem.
I have tried the default password "admin" but it doesn't work either.
I read in the user guide that if you have lost your username/password, you have to contact HP for a "backdoor password".
The thing is that these switches are no longer covered by warranty, so HP will charge me for this.

Does anybody have a tip on how I could solve this problem?

Some help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: Lost password on GbE2 interconnect switch

Hi Thomas,

Try this !!

The password is 2wGDEp|B (there is no username in this circumstance)

Surely this will work !

James.

Re: Lost password on GbE2 interconnect switch

Hi James

This is really great. Thanks a lot.

I tried with this password, and was immediately prompted to change the admin password which I did.
Then logged in again with the correct admin password and saved the configuration.

But, here is where a new problem starts.
I successfully logged in to all three of my switches (which had this problem) with the new admin password using console cable.
However, when I tried to log in through web interface, it still presents me with the login box meaning the username/password is incorrect.
The username is for sure "admin" and I copied and pasted the password I sat, but still no luck.

Do I have to reload the switch or something as part of this procedure?

Appreciate your help.

Regards,
Thomas

Re: Lost password on GbE2 interconnect switch

After a bit more troubleshooting I was able to fix this issue after all.

I was able to log in through telnet using the new password I configured as well, so I only had problems loggin in through web interface.

Therefore, I reset the password once again to a new password.
Then I was able to also log in through web management.
I don't know why this didn't work the first time, but at least my problem is eventually solved.

Thanks again James for your valuable help.
