Modem on a C7000 with a BL870c

Has anyone ever configured a modem on a C7000 with a BL870c?

IMHO not possible, because you don't have a serial port for connecting the modem.

I have no idea if it is "supported" with a modem, but the dongle - HP P/N 409946-001 - which connects to the front of the blade breaks-out a DB-9 serial port along with a pair of USB and a VGA connection.

I read somewhere in the manuals that it is not recommended to permanently connect something external with the SUV cable. I guess the connectors are not designed to handle the continuous stress of being connected over a long time. These are fairly inexpensive products:

I've been considering some KVM-over-IP products myself that have serial port SIPs to connect all my networking and PDU gear to the KVM for remote control. Some of the higher end raritan KVMs have optional modems for dialin, redundant power, and redundant network ports.

The serial connection on the "dongle" is the console.
