NICs and iSCSI

Hello,

I have a blade unit, bl460c with 4 nics in it. I can only see two of the nics with Vmware esx3 installed. Someone mentioned the other two may have iSCSI acceleration enabled. I do see iSCSI adapters in the VMware config settings and see the two NICs as PCI devices in the BIOS. The Two embedded NICS are working fine. I need 4 regular NICS. Does anyone know how to turn off the iSCSI acceleration?

Does these help,

"esxcfg-swiscsi -q" this will Query if it is enabled.
"esxcfg-swiscsi -d" This will disable.

what is the model of mezzanine card that you have installed in this BL460c?

I now am not so sure its related to iSCSI. I spoke with an HP tech and he said it may not work the way I have it configured. Basically, we wanted to evaluate the Cisco Blade switches and the Virtual Connect Mondules. The VC's are in bay 1 and 2. The Cisco Switches are in bays 5 and 6. The embedded nics are mapped to bay 1 and 2 and the mezz card in slot 2 is the nc360m dual port nic that is mapped to bays 5 and 6. I can see the nics in the blade management and under PCI devices in the BIOS (although it doesn't recognize the model) but not in esx server.

the NC360m is brand new (Intel-based Mezzanine card). You might want to check with VMWare. I'm not sure that the NC360m is supported yet. I don't see it on the compatibility matrix:

regardless of the I/O Bay Ethernet Interconnects that are used, VC, Cisco, etc. the NICs should still be showing up in the OS unless they are currently unsupported.

What sort of evaluation did you want to make between the different ethernet modules? I suspect that overheads of virtualization, and perhaps devault NIC settings, might mask much of anything in the way of differences in performance between the switch modules.
