Need Guidance : HP VC Flex-10 to HP Procurve 2848 switch

Hi Experts,

I am not a savvy in Blade Technology. We have received a c7000 enclosure with HP VC Flex-10 Enet Module. The uplink port to this VC module is connected to a HP Procurve 2848 switch. On the VC side, the sfp is of 10Gbps and on the switch side it is 1Gbps. Not sure, where is the gap, but unable to get the link in the VC. Incidentally, Tried with the copper ( using the RJ45sfp in the VC and UTP in the switch ) it is working fine.. Could please guide me how to get the link using FC sfp connector.
Your help is highly appreciable.

Note: Upgraded the VC firmware to 2.32 too.
Many Thanks,
Regards,
Raghu.

Hi Raghu,

Which port are you attempting to connect to your switch? Ports X7 and X8 are typically used for an internal crosslink. Although this should be overridden when you attach via SFP, it's possible there is a conflict.

good luck

There is no speed sensing with fibre Ethernet. So, you cannot take a cable and connect one end to a transceiver operating at 10 Gigabit and connect the other end to a transceiver operating at 1 Gigabit and have it work. The speeds of the transceivers must match.

If you meant FibreChannel when you said FC, that would be something else entirely. In the Ethernet namespace we just say fibre :)
