New white papers on managing power for data centers and on HP Power Supply technology
Laurie Robinson's technical team has released new white papers on managing power in data centers and on HP Power Supply Technology. Below are the descriptions and links:
Critical factors in intra-rack power distribution planning for high-density systems, Technology Brief, December 7, 2009
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01948892/c01948892.pdf
As server densities per rack increase, the power densities for those racks increase as well. This technology brief identifies critical factors that infrastructure designers and system administrators must consider to plan safe and efficient power distribution systems for high-density racks.
HP Power Supply Technology, Technology Brief, December 7, 2009
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01948837/c01948837.pdf
The cost of energy needed to run an enterprise data center can account for the majority of a data center's total operating costs. These days it is the power budget, not floor or rack space, which constrains a data center's computing capacity. This technology brief describes how common-slot power supplies boost energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
