Re: Only one disk on my bl860c

Please post your

# ioscan -fn

I think you may have a hardware RAID configured ...

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Only one disk on my bl860c

Try this command and see if you find LOGICAL DRIVES:

# sasmgr get_info -D /dev/sasd0 -q raid

Hope this helps!

Re: Only one disk on my bl860c

As you can see, the both disks are mirrored by hardware - if 1 fails, the data is still on the second. This is for redundancy.

Both disks are currently in use, none is empty.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Only one disk on my bl860c

Can this h/w RAID or internal mirrioring be removed when we get an external storage..

Re: Only one disk on my bl860c

You can "destroy" the RAID using the controller setup utility, but you probably need to backup/restore the data, see also

http://docs.hp.com/en/J6369-90071/index.html

If you have external storage, why not keep this config?

Believe me, replacing a SAS disk and restore the configuration could be a pain, but with your current setup it is just plug and play.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Opps... I had another query...

But can anyone ever create a VG01 on it...

Or is it safe to use the existing configuration...

Re: Only one disk on my bl860c

The disk is already in use unless you delete the whole array.

Hope this helps!
