Operating System

How will I knwo if an OS is already running on the Blade server...

When I boot the server it directly takes me to the Shell> prompt and stops there.

Re: Operating System

Shalom,

uname -a

There may not be an OS installed or the boot configuration is trashed in some way if this is happening.

Re: Operating System

The Shell> prompt is the NVRAM EFI prompt , which probably means there is no OS installed (it would probably have booted the OS if it was there).

If I recall correctly issue the following command to look for devices with EFI boot partitions:

map -r

If all you see are devices with blkN: identifiers, then those are all disks without EFI boot partitions.

If you see something with a fsN: identifier such as this:

Shell> map -r
Device mapping table
fs0 : Acpi(HWP0002,0)/Pci(1|0)/Usb(1, 0)/HD(Part1,SigC3072E18)

Then thats a bootable partition which probably has an OS on it (unless it's a bootable DVD in the DVD drive)

Re: Operating System

These aren't errors, they are chassis log messages.

I thought you said you were at the Shell> prompt?

To get back to the Shell> prompt press ctrl-b and then issue the command
