Hello there,
I got c7000 enclosure and 2 procurve 6120XG aboard.
ProCurve 6120XG Switch Left# show version Image stamp: /ws/swbuildm/Z_zinfandel_fip_t4b_qaoff/code/build/vern(Z_zinfand el_fip_t4b_qaoff) Apr 29 2015 12:51:16 Z.14.52 2620 Boot Image: Primary
I need to connect these switches to 100 mb ports of 3com 4400, however when I put the cable into ports there is no link. Procurve ports are enabled, if I connect procurve to 1g switch (not 3com 4400) then link is up and if I connect 3com 4400 to another 1g switch link is up too. I guess problem is in speed compatibility, procurve ports are adjusted to auto:
ProCurve 6120XG Switch Left# show interfaces config Port Settings Port Type | Enabled Mode Flow Ctrl MDI ----- --------- + ------- ------------ --------- ---- 1 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 2 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 3 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 4 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 5 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 6 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 7 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 8 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 9 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 10 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 11 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 12 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 13 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 14 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 15 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 16 10GbE-K | Yes Auto Enable 0 17 1000T-SFP | Yes Auto Disable 0 18 1000T-SFP | No Auto Disable 0 19 1000T-SFP | No Auto Disable 0 20 | Yes Disable 0 21 | Yes Disable 0 22 | Yes Disable 0 23 10GbE-K | No Auto Enable 0 24 10GbE-K | No Auto Enable 0
So when I try to set another speed I get:
ProCurve 6120XG Switch Left(config)# interface 19 speed-duplex 10-half 10 Mbps, half duplex. 100-half 100 Mbps, half duplex. 10-full 10 Mbps, full duplex. 100-full 100 Mbps, full duplex. 1000-full 1000 Mbps, full duplex. auto Use Auto Negotiation for speed and duplex mode. auto-10 10 Mbps, use Auto Negotiation for duplex mode. auto-100 100 Mbps, use Auto Negotiation for duplex mode. auto-1000 1000 Mbps, use Auto Negotiation for duplex mode. auto-10-100 10 or 100 Mbps, and half or full duplex, using Auto Negotiation. ProCurve 6120XG Switch Left(config)# interface 19 speed-duplex 100-full Value 100-full is not applicable to port 19. ProCurve 6120XG Switch Left(config)#
And this speed is not applicable for all ports not only for external. Is it possible that options for 10/100 remained from old version of procurve image and procurve 6120XG is not compatible with 100mb switches at all?
P.S. Also I can`t find speed option in web management console of procurve.

SolutionHello,
It is most probably your SFP transceiver which isn't capable of this mode. Usually, SFP transceivers are operating in 1-10Gb, you would need special ones to operate at lower speed like 10/100 mb.
You should look into a comptatible SFP transceiver. Good luck

Re: ProCurve 6120XG speed compatibility.
Hello Jayooin.
Thanks for your answer, I guess you are right. Shame on me that I didnt think about SFP.
