Problem with cooler on c3000

Greetings everyone

I have c3000 Blade enclosure with 6 blade servers in enclosure, all 6 fans are installed.

Whole system is in warranty

Lately, I'm getting alertmail from OA with status change of one of fans to status Degraded. Few minutes later I'm getting another alertmail with status change to OK.

What does it mean? Is the fan OK or not?

Should I open RMA to change fan or not?

Hi,

If I remember well this is a bug fixed in a recent firmware. Which firmware are you running on the Onboard Administrator?

What helps also is reset the OA module... You can do this online, there will be no impact on the servers itself... Only the fans will go to 100% for some seconds...

Bart

Thanks for your reply

My last firmware upgrade was using latest Blade Compatibility Matrix ver. 9.30.

Just checked if there is new release, but this is latest.

I'm running OA fw 3.30

Re: Problem with cooler on c3000

Hi,

That version is rather old... There are meanwhile 5 newer versions available... Latest one is 3.56...

In one of them (3.50) I find this one:

Thermals

I think it is time for upgrade! ;-)

Do not forget to check with dependencies between firmware and drivers... For instance if U have Virtual Connect modules U will need to upgrade too...

Re: Problem with cooler on c3000

You 're right. Seems like I'll need to upgrade. ;)

Speaking of depenencies, I prefer to do upgrades using Compatibility Matrix.

Thanks for helping me out in this issue. I'm very grateful.

Best regards

Re: Problem with cooler on c3000

Hi,

If U download the latest SPP Service Pack for Proliant, it includes also the latest version of HP SUM Smart Update Manager which knows about those dependencies...

Just do a discovery of the IP address of the OA and it will find all the rest
