QMH2462 can't see tape drives after library reboot. BL465c Linux AS 4 x86_64

QMH2462 can't see tape drives after library reboot. BL465c Linux AS 4 x86_64

Hello

We are running Linux CentOS 4.4 on several HP BL465c. Our TL is HP ESL712. The storage is HP XP12000. The mezzanine HBA is QMH2462 and the driver is 8.01.07.25-fo

When the machines boot, they can "see" and use everything alright (i.e. XP's LUNs and ESL712's tape drives). If we reboot the TL when the machines are running, after the TL comes up they cannot access the TL's drives anymore. The backup software is data protector 5.5. Below is attached a dmesg of one of the affected systems. Whenever we have to reboot the TL we have to reboot many connected systems too, in order to have our backups working. hp_rescan doesn't help. This issue seems to be related to x86_64 installed machines only (the 32bit are not suffering of it). Any help to fix this? Thanks.

Hello,

Has anyone posted a fix for this, or have you found a fix? I have the same issue.

Re: QMH2462 can't see tape drives after library reboot. BL465c Linux AS 4 x86_64

I wish I could offer you some help, but all I can do here is comment that I'm experiencing a very similar problem on an Integrity (rx2660) running RHEL4.6. In my case it's only happening during backups to a VLS9000, and if I reboot the VLS9000, then do an 'hp_rescan -a', then I can communicate with the tape drives again. However I end up having to export and reformat the virtual tapes that were in use when the error occurred before I can use them again.

For me there are 8 VLS virtual tape drives presented and two fiberchannel HBAs in use for talking to them on two separate fabrics.
