Quick enquiry about hardware in C7000 enclosure

All,

I'm sure this is an easy one to answer. I have a brand new C7000 enclosure and we have 6 "BLC GBE2C" swtiches (438030-B21) and 2 "Brocade Bladesystem 4/24" (AE372) fibre switches.

Does it matter which bays on the enclosure that these modules are loaded into?

Thanks

It depends on what Mezzanine cards you have in the servers.
Please refer to the attached Port mapping doc and Make sure you have proper connectivity to the Switch modules and Blades.

Yeah, it depends of the mezz cards, anyways you should use GbE2 on Bay 1 and 2 due the embedded NICs mapping.

Re: Quick enquiry about hardware in C7000 enclosure

Thanks for asking, but I'm don't feel I am any nearer to my answer.

Basically this is a brand new C7000 which is not live yet and we are building the hardware up. By having 2 x Fibre switches and 6 x Gigabit switches all of the bays at the rear of the C7000 will be occupied and I would just like to know which bays the Fibre cards should be plugged in to. Clearly 6 of the bays will be occupied by Gigabit cards, so which 2 of the 8 bays should we mount the fibre cards in?

Thanks

Re: Quick enquiry about hardware in C7000 enclosure

Make sure you install the Fiber mezz cards on the same slot on each blade, then go to the Onboard Administrator, Device bays, Select 1 server and go the port mapping. It will show you to which bay on the rear of the enclosure are those fiber ports going, then you need to put your SAN switch there.
