Restoring Serial Number to midplane C-7000??
Claudia had a tricky question about setting a new mid-plane serial number so HP SIM is happy:

Customer had a midplane replace replaced and now HP SIM is carping that there is no SN – how do you fix this?
Now if I look at a C3000 MDR – the SN of the midplane is N/A – but does show a part number.

Hi Claudia,
- Make note of the enclosure Part Number or Product ID and Serial Number from enclosure front bezel (white sticker).
- Telnet to active OA IP with Admin rights.
- Once in you’re in follow the procedure below. OA CLI User Guide http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00702815/c00702815.pdf
SET ENCLOSURE PART_ NUMBER
• Command:
SET ENCLOSURE PART_NUMBER "<part number>"
• Description:
Sets the part number of the enclosure
• Access level/Bay level:
OA administrator
• Restrictions: Must be 10 characters in length and the first character must be a digit. Acceptable characters are all alphanumeric and the dash (-).
SET ENCLOSURE SERIAL_NUMBER
• Command:
SET ENCLOSURE SERIAL_NUMBER "<serial number>"
• Description:
Sets the enclosure serial number.
• Access level/Bay level:
OA administrator
• Restrictions: Must be 10 characters in length. Acceptable characters are all printable characters.
To verify type > show enclosure info then type exit to log out.
