Restoring Serial Number to midplane C-7000??

Claudia had a tricky question about setting a new mid-plane serial number so HP SIM is happy:

*********************************************************************************************************

Customer had a midplane replace replaced and now HP SIM is carping that there is no SN – how do you fix this?

Now if I look at a C3000 MDR – the SN of the midplane is N/A – but does show a part number.

Hoa had a quick response:

Hi Claudia,

  1. Make note of the enclosure Part Number or Product ID and Serial Number from enclosure front bezel (white sticker).
  2. Telnet to active OA IP with Admin rights.
  3. Once in you’re in follow the procedure below.    OA CLI User Guide http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00702815/c00702815.pdf

• Command:

SET ENCLOSURE PART_NUMBER "<part number>"

• Description:

Sets the part number of the enclosure

• Access level/Bay level:

OA administrator

• Restrictions: Must be 10 characters in length and the first character must be a digit. Acceptable characters are all alphanumeric and the dash (-).
