SAS raid not in use...
I have a bl860c machine confiugured. Now I found out that this system is slightly different from all my other bl860c's. This one does not have the raid option activated.
#/opt/sas/bin/sasmgr get_info -D /dev/sasd0 -q raid
Mon Aug 4 14:34:52 2008
---------- PHYSICAL DRIVES ----------
LUN dsf SAS Address Enclosure Bay Size(MB)
/dev/rdsk/c0t0d0 0x5000c500092f46e9 1 1 140014
/dev/rdsk/c0t1d0 0x5000c50007a50e09 1 2 140014
No raid info and two disks visible.
# ioscan -m dsf
Persistent DSF Legacy DSF(s)
========================================
/dev/rdisk/disk2 /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0
/dev/rdisk/disk3 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0
/dev/rdisk/disk3_p1 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s1
/dev/rdisk/disk3_p2 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s2
/dev/rdisk/disk3_p3 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s3
The current production data is on the /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0 ( or /dev/rdisk/disk3, whatever you like .. ).
My question is if there is a way to enable the hardware raid option with sasmgr command when the machine is operational? Does someone have a cleaver idea how to handle this ? I know that using software raid could be an option, but then I still have differences with all my other bl860c's.

Re: SAS raid not in use...
No. Best solution is to backup the system (ignite), create the hardware RAID and restore the data.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: SAS raid not in use...
Hardware raid must be set up before the OS install.
If you clear stuff off your intended hardware raid disks, you can boot the system, go into hardware raid configuration and set it up after the fact.
